FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Be In The Know
WHAT ARE YOUR SERVICE FEES?
My fees are based on the complexity of your income tax. Although I am usually less expensive than the national preparation firms, I can be more expensive than other local preparers based on the fact I come to you, prepare, file and give you a copy of your tax in one visit.
FOR HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PREPARING INCOME TAXES? WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND?
I began preparing income taxes in 1983 while living in New Jersey. I moved to Delaware in 1992 and expanded my practice. I have a Bachelors degree in Accounting and a Masters degree in Finance from St. Joseph's University.
FOR HOW LONG SHOULD I KEEP MY TAX RECORDS?
Generally speaking, you should keep your tax records for a minimum of three years.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM CONTACTED BY THE IRS ABOUT MY INCOME TAX?
Through my software provider, you are automatically enrolled in an audit protection program where assistance will be provided to you if I am unable to resolve the issue. Also, I have liability insurance which will reimburse you for any interest, fees AND additional income tax you owe because of an error I made on your tax.
DO YOU PROVIDE TAX PREPARATION FOR ANY STATES/LOCALITIES OUTSIDE OF DE, PA, MD AND NJ?
I am able to prepare an income tax for either any state or city which requires a tax return.
WHAT HAPPENS IF IT SNOWS WHEN MY APPOINTMENT IS SCHEDULED?
Because I realize the preparation of an income tax is of utmost importance to you, I rarely cancel an appointment because of the weather. I schedule appointments at my client's convenience, 7 days a week, morning, noon and night.
HOW DO YOU STAY UP TO DATE ON THE TAX LAW CHANGES?
In order to stay up to date on any changes to the tax laws, I subscribe to tax webinars and other types of online/print educational services. Many of these are provided by the IRS and my software provider.
